I knew from the beginning when someone named Rachel contacted me for an engagement portrait session it was going to be awesome. And it was. Rachel and her fiance were going to be be staying on Singer Island and wanted to have some photos done. They were visiting from Chicago where they were both in podiatry school. At the same school my stepdad went to! Since they were traveling they wouldn’t really be able to bring any special items to incorporate. I just requested they bring a stethoscope and my usual amazing assistant (my mom) and I would do the rest. The location was easy. Singer Island is my backyard and pretty much where I grew up. So many beautiful spots for portraiture. Rachel mentioned they would be getting married in Hawaii so I wanted to also have that feel. We were blessed with a beautiful evening, if a bit warm. But hey, it’s Florida! Location was easy. We began at Sailfish Marina with the quintessential docks and yachts and of course the bluest water. Next we headed to my secret spot where I got the shot of them with the puffy heart my mom made and the stethoscope they brought. Lastly we hit up the Pumphouse, an iconic Singer Island landmark. My Dad still tells stories about jumping off of it when I was a kid. Rachel wore the flower crown my mom and I made and I wrapped them in the sarong from my honeymoon. And of course we got images of their footprints in the sand…because, you know, FOOT doctors
