  • Welcome to the blog!

    Hi! I'm Rachel and thanks for visiting my blog. It means a lot to me that something here has sparked your interest. Most of the items I post will be photography related. You know...weddings, family photo sessions, maternity/newborn, engagements and so on. I might sometimes tell you about my husband, whom I adore, my 2 dogs and a cat or my other crazy friends and family. I might also share with you some things going on in my life that hopefully you find interesting, or at the very least humorous, give some tips on being 'green', and definitely impart all my fun iPhone photo app images.
    If you are here and in need of a photographer, super! I can't wait to hear from you. Let's talk about plans for amazing locations, fun props, gorgeous lighting, and having a really great time creating the most memorable images :)

For the Love of Dogs {volunteer photography}

Those of you that know me, know I am a sucker for animals. We have 3 of them at home. Sometime I’ll introduce you to them. In the meantime, I want to share my latest experience. I found out about this organization through Facebook (of course, what else?!?). Big Dog Ranch Rescue is located in a somewhat hard to find (surprise, surprise…I got lost!) tucked away location in Wellington, FL. It is a huge property that used to be a wildlife facility. BDRR purchased it and moved from Jupiter Farms with all their dogs and such. They are a rescue and adoption organization. They have so many awesome dogs (and not all are big!) that are looking for loving homes. Seriously, I would take all 100+, but Jason frowned on that idea. They are always looking for volunteers of all ages from walking the dogs to playing with them to bathing them and so on. They also obviously encourage any donations since they are non-profit. Anyway, I saw a posting looking for someone to volunteer to take pictures of the adoptable dogs so they could be posted on Pet Finder and Facebook and the like. I jumped at the chance! My first visit was a few weeks ago and I had a blast. Sue and Heather were amazing assistants and dog/puppy wranglers:)  I wanted to share a few images and encourage any of you thinking about getting a dog to check BDRR out. I can’t wait for my next photo shoot with the doggies!!
